ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to test of the effects of identification with an actual game avatar based on the game user and an animated avatar in a smoking simulation game. We also tested differences between left brain and right brain EEG based on the level of identification by using a playtest experimental treatment approach. Specifically, we compared and analyzed left brain and right brain EEG (α, β, θ) according to the level of identification with a game avatar. 60 male and 60 female participated in an experiment by playing a smoking simulation game, “Smoking Sims II.” The results showed that Beta (β) waves coming out from the left and right brain were high in the game using actual avatars, but alpha (α) and theta (θ) waves were low.
