ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to identity factors affecting smartphone addiction (SA) in adults. The subjects were 1,000 adults aged 19-60 years. They were classified into 3 groups according to their smartphone addiction. GLM analysis was used to compare SA level and smartphone use expectation (SUE), and correlation between PC and smartphone usage habit (SUH) was calculated with the partial correlation coefficient while controlling for age. In order to identify factors affecting the SA of subjects, multiple regression was used. Degree of SA, SUE and SUH showed statistically significant differences between the smartphone addiction group, risk group, and normal group (p<.001). SA scores were higher, SUE was significantly higher (p<.001) and SUE was related to SUH (p<001). Therefore, it is necessary to develop SA prevention programs and policies targeting adults.
